The special representative of the US state Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker said that Washington is “actively considering” the opportunity to send weapons to Kiev. On Monday, July 24, he said in interview “bi-Bi-si”.
Walker noted that the supply of Washington’s weapons to the Ukrainian military may change the approach of Moscow and added that he believes such a move is provocative. “Defensive weapons would help stop Russia, which threatened Ukraine”, — said Walker.
He acknowledged that weapons could be shipped to Ukraine for fear of the American establishment “annoy Russia”
Walker also noted that to establish peace in the East of Ukraine is possible only through a new strategic dialogue with Russia.
Walker was in Ukraine from 21 to 24 July. Special envoy of the state Department visited the Donbass, and said that the region is a “hot war”. He also met with the Ukrainian authorities in Kiev, where he discussed ways of “restoring Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
