The Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation commented on the request of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov to ban the show in the movie “Matilda” about the affair of Emperor Nicholas II with the ballet dancer Mathilde Kschessinska. The Department believes that the Chechen leader himself must deal with the distributors. Responded to a letter sent by Kadyrov to the Ministry of culture and Director Alexey Uchitel – he suggested the President not to believe other people’s words, and make a judgment about the picture after seeing it. Meanwhile, the authorities of Dagestan followed the example of Kadyrov.
Yesterday in a press-service of the Ministry stated that it had taken note of the letter to Kadyrov and promised to consider his request. But on Wednesday, first Deputy culture Minister Vladimir Aristarkhov said that the Agency has no right to make an exception for Chechnya when issuing distribution certificate for the film.
“If such a licence will be issued, issue or display of prohibition of painting in the territory of the Chechen Republic should be decided by Ramzan Akhmatovich with local distributors. We have no right to give a distribution certificate with the subsequent withdrawal of it from some of the region”, – said Arseny.
The Deputy Minister noted that, according to the legislation of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of culture has no right to issue or withdraw a rental license the film from the individual regions. “If it is issued then the film is shown throughout the Russian Federation. But since we film Alexey Uchitel has not yet been reported, this issue we have not solved”, – he said.

As reported by “Draft”, the first Vice-Premier of government of Dagestan Anatoly of the Caribbean “on behalf of all the inhabitants of the Republic” indicated in the letter to Medina that “tens of thousands of people of different faiths are asked not to allow public release of the film, as I consider it to insult religious feelings of believers and the humiliation of human dignity, and the desecration of shrines and centuries-old history of our state.”
