The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law on transplantation of organs

During the life of each person of majority age, legally capable person has the right to provide written consent or disagreement to the removal of anatomical materials from his body for transplantation has been defined as an irreversible state of death.

Transplantation will be carried out on the principles of voluntariness; of humanity; of anonymity

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law “On the use of transplant anatomic human materials” (registration No. 2386-a-1).

As the correspondent of UNIAN, for this decision voted 255 deputies of Ukraine.

The law stipulates that every person of majority age, legally capable person has the right to provide written consent or disagreement to the removal of anatomical materials from his body for transplantation and/or manufacture of bioimplantation been defined as an irreversible state of death (brain death or biological death).

Each person of majority age, legally capable person has the right at any time submit a written request to revoke his written agreement or disagreement on the posthumous donation; to provide a new written agreement or disagreement on the posthumous donation. This agreement or disagreement is recorded in the unified state information system of transplantation.

According to the law, if the deceased has not expressed during the life of his agreement or disagreement on the posthumous donation, the consent to the removal of anatomical materials transplant requested from the spouse or one of the relatives of this person (children, parents, brothers and sisters), which is available for the issue of such consent, and written assurance of its provision.

The law specifies that the transplant is carried out on the following principles:

-voluntariness;

-humanity; anonymity;

-the provision of donor organs to potential recipients according to medical indications;

-free (except hematopoietic stem cells): a compliance order (except family and cross donation); the dignity of the human body in the case of posthumous donation.
